Yahoo! It’s Halloween! My favorite holiday of the year. :) There is something about Halloween that is so fascinating and intriguing for me. I was a sucker for weird things when I was younger, ghosts, witches, vampires and other mythical beings. I collect books, magazine clippings and watch films about them. I know many versions about the White Lady from Balete Drive and I also have some fair share of scary experiences.

As I grow older, I graduated from my silly weird stuff obsessions. Sadly the books and magazine clippings that I collected were all destroyed by Ondoy. :( I now look back on how I celebrate my Halloweens before. When I was a kid, I remember I always tune in to Kabayan Noli for his hair-raising Halloween episodes. Before, my cousins always visits us in our province, we go to the cemetery to   visit our dead relatives. After our evening padasal for our dearly departed ones, we gather in front of the TV and turn off the lights in time for that said show. After the show we tell scary stories until our parents beg us to sleep. haha! Those were the days…

Then high school came, it was the best! haha! My friends and I shared the same craziness for Halloween. We organized a party for our batch mates, held at my house. We made invitations and even gave a prize for the winner for best in costume. It was a small gathering but it was so much fun. I hope I can still find some pictures that we had that night. It will be good to reminisce and laugh at those pictures. I can’t help smile as I write this part. I can still vaguely remember my costume that night, I borrowed heels from Tita Carmen, skirt from Bee-Anne, and tights from Tei. I think I was channeling Sabrina the Teenage Witch that time.

When I got to college, I seldom went home for the occasion. We were in tri-semester in school that’s why its hard for me to go home and come back in time for school. No more Halloween parties this time. No more reading scary stuff. Although scary stories are still abundant, and when I say scary meaning “embarrassing” hahahaha! There’s this “calculator story”, “exam story”, “hide and seek story” and a lot more.

Today, all Hallows Eve, I’m in front of my computer, composing this blog. Is this how I celebrate my favorite holiday now? Is this how I would like to enjoy this evening? Well why not? I enjoy writing. I enjoy chatting. I enjoy watching scary stuff for Halloween. Too bad our cable is not working now because of the storm last night. Good thing I have my internet connection, to keep me entertained. Well the night is still young, I can still put some costume on and gate crash a party, or something… Any one care to join me? haha!
