Random Thoughts: Weekend Agendas

I was planning to do my gift wrapping this weekend but I didn’t. I haven’t even bought any wrappers for them, and I am giving away some of the gifts little by little, haha! I was thinking if I can just hand them one by one, without wrapping it, but that would spoil my idea of Christmas. So Nuf said, NEED TOO BUY GIFT WRAPPER!

Jon, Ghik and myself watched Ninja Assassin yesterday. I was made to believe that the movie was great, so we went to Eastwood to catch the 12:45 NN screening. GORE! GORE! And more GORE! Effect were good but the story was a BLAH! No depth, no catchy line, in other words the story line did not work for me. Don’t get me wrong I love Kill Bill, it was violent, gory and disturbing but I loved it! This one? Oh no! The last shot where Rizo went up the wall that his girlfriend climbed when she tries to escape the “camp” I thought Rizo would say “My name is Rain. ” hahahaha!

I was watching Sex and the City Season 1 last night after PBB elimination night. I downed 5 episodes in one sitting, and stopped when I saw it was dawn. I can’t get enough of Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda. I love these women. I so envy Carrie for having those shoes! Now I know what I want, next year I will start my shoe collection! haha! I hope I can do that! :)

I am still heartbroken about the rompers I saw in Zara Rockewel, still dreaming that someday I will have one. Last week I visited Zara Greenbelt 5 like 3 times, haha! I won’t be surprised if the sales assistant already recognized my face haha! Still sad on the outcome of my romper search, I went on with my shopaholic adventure. I went to SPACE last Saturday as advised by my cousin Tei, I saw cheaper but also pretty playsuit. I was really torn if I will get this or not but as the snobby sales lady told me that this was their last stock and usually they don’t replenish, I decided to get it. I gave them my credit card but their machine was busted, then and there I decided to reserve it and get it back today. A while ago we went back to the store to get it, I am so happy the sales lady hold my reservation. Although I’m still not over my Zara romper, I am happy with my purchase. :)

I had dinner with Jon in Causway today. It was a nice dimsum festival, we agreed not to have rice tonight so we just feasted on dimsum. We ordered Chicken Feet, Crab Roe Siomai, Spare Ribs with Tausi and Buchi. Love their Crab Roe Siomai and Spare Ribs with Tausi. Yum Yum! We enjoyed the food while people watching in the restaurant. With good and cheap food, we will surely come back here. :)

weekend movie marathon…

This long weekend, all I did was watch my downloaded movies. After a whole day of Christmas shopping, it was so relaxing to finally sit back and watch a movie. I opened Toshiko and searched for my downloaded movies, what to watch? Hmmmm…. Tadaaa! Here are my selections for the weekend. As I blog these films please take note that my reviews are my opinion and I may mention some parts of the movie (*Spoiler Alert*). Game!

Paranormal Activity – 11/28/09 – This is a true story, or so they say (I doubt it). It’s about a couple who was haunted by a demon. The girl Kate was like a demon magnet, she was haunted by this being since she was 8. Her boyfriend Micah was a little doubtful about the haunting until he experienced it. The movie was somewhat Blair Witch Project meets The Exorcist. It gives me the creeps when I see random movements caught on camera while the couple is sleeping. Hearing a strange voice call your name in the middle of the night is not what I want to experience. And knowing that even if I move out of the house “it” will still follow me! Waaaaaaaaaaaaa! Well the movie ends up tragically, both Kate and Micah died in the house. Hard to believe this is a true story though, I read somewhere that there are several ending versions of this horrifying film. I am not surprised that I also found some information about the “actors” on the net. Watch this if you want a good scare, some parts maybe boring but as it was simply made, it’s closer to reality.

Milk – 11/29/09 – Hi! My name is Harvey Milk and I’m here to recruit you… I liked the movie. It’s a about the first openly gay man who was elected to public office in California. He put on such a brave fight for equal rights for the third sex in America. I was really moved by the way he relentlessly campaigned for equal rights for everyone and on how he helped everyone that needed him. One of my favorite scenes here in the movie was when he was trying to convince Cleve to register to vote, although he did not convinced him at first, he became his mentor. The other one was when Milk was having a meeting in his apartment then Scott drove away the people for him and Milk to have a nice dinner. Scott was so mad about what was happening with Milk, being so immerse in his political career that he sometimes forgets himself.  What a waste that Harvey Milk was just assassinated by a man who loathes him too much. He could have done so much more for his fellow members of the third sex. SAD… :( Sean Penn deserved the Best Actor Award for this, as well as Best Picture for Dustin Lance Black. Bravo guys!!! :)

500 Days of Summer – 11/30/09 – A friend of mine can so relate to this movie, haha! Majority of her friends including me says so, haha! Oh my where should I start without thinking of my friend??? Oh here, I love the actress Zooey Deschanel, love the way she looked in the movie, from her costumes, to her lines. One of the best lines in the movie was this (as quoted by my Marsy Nice) “SUMMER: I woke up one morning and I just knew. TOM: Knew what? SUMMER: What I was never sure of with you.” This really hit me. It’s like when you have one of the greatest love of your life then one day *poof* you realized that, “Nah! This is not gonna’ work out.” I also love how Rachel takes care of his brother Tom, how she breaks reality to him. Her advises were so good you would not expect that it would come from a kid like her. She is so beyond her years, unlike Tom who wallows in his depression every time he is reminded of Summer. This is not really a feel good romantic comedy, this is reality. No happy endings, no walking in the clouds feeling, no they live happily ever after. This is how real relationship works. Oh well, it’s just me and how I view the movie. Reality bites and you have to bite back to survive! :)

Now, I’m done with my long weekend marathon. But I know this won’t be the last. Expect more from me in this blog. Pardon some of my senseless views; remember it’s just my opinion. Till my next movie marathon, I have tons on my line up! :)

I am officially “A Day Late”

Warning! This is some what a New Moon Post!

I went to Eastwood City yesterday evening with Mae to reserve seats for our New Moon movie night. I was a bit nervous because I was thinking that the reservation for advance seat sale for the weekend is already sold out. We arrived in Eastwood after 1 grueling hour of long line and traffic, it was about 8-ish or so.

I expected the worst when we entered the mall, (again) long ticket lines, irritable costumers, kids running like hell and others. Surprise! Surprise! The exact opposite of the scene that I was imagining, no lines, no customers, no irritable kids, etc. Just us and the people in the counters to help us. Wow! God really works in mysterious ways. *wink* *wink*

We asked the reservation officer for the available seating for the first day of showing. Well no surprise here, the only available seats were 3 in front row and other single seats in between of groups. We gave up on the first day of showing and decided to reserve for the second day instead. WEEEEEE! at least we got confirmed! haha!

Having said that we are watching New Moon on the second day I have thought of a song very fitting to this, haha! Crazy right? This song was introduced to me by Jamie. I so love this song! :) It’s not really directly connected to New Moon, but if you widen your imagination it can be. It’s just a song that reminds me that I am a day late for the premier showing of the movie. LOLZ!

A Day Late * Anberlin

so let me get this straight
say now you loved me all along?
what made you hesitate
to tell me with words what you really feel
i can see it in your eyes you mean all of what you say
i remember so long ago, see i felt that same way
now we both have separate lives and lovers (and lovers)
insignificantly enough we both have significant others

only time will tell
time will turn and tell

we are who we were when
could’ve been lovers but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when
who knew what we know now
could’ve been more but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when

but thoughts they change and times they rearrange i don’t know who you are anymore
loves come and go and this i know i’m not who you recall anymore
but i must confess you’re so much more then i remember
can’t help but entertain these thoughts
thoughts of us together

we are who we were when
could’ve been lovers but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when
who knew what we know now
could’ve been more but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when

my day late friend

so let me get this straight
all these years and you were no where to be found
and now you want me for your own
but you’re a day late and my love, she’s still renowned
we are who we were when
could’ve been lovers but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when
who knew what we know now
could’ve been more but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when
