I hate doing my Chaturanga Dandasana! In lay man’s term, I hate doing low push-ups! Having weak upper body low push-ups gives me a hard time. After each Yoga session, I feel the pain in my arms, shoulders and upper back. If I can get away in doing Chaturanga I will, but it’s a part of Vinyasa sequence that Eunice asks us to do. I have been attending Yoga classes in the office as a part of my fitness goal, I love everything about it, but I just hate this Chaturangga pose.

March Yoga classes began last Thursday; we just started because we had our Media Launch last Tuesday/ March 1. I am the Yoga class organizer and as one of my perks I get to set the date on my availability, haha! No Anne, no Yoga, haha! We started a bit late last Thursday; we waited for someone who was late because of some certain issues that need to be addressed.

We started with “Surya Namaskar A” or Sun Salutation A like we always do, then move to “Surya Namaskar B” or Sun Salutation B. This is done to warm up our bodies for the more challenging poses. As a part of both “Surya Namaskar A and B,” we have to do “Chaturanga Dandasana” as we flow from one pose to the other. Usually after the “Uttanasa” or Forward Fold, we go straight to Plank Pose then followed by the dreaded “Chaturanga”; we rest after with Downward Facing Dog. Whew! Just thinking about the routine makes me sweat in my mind.

During our “Surya Namaskar” routines I discovered something. It actually surprised me. I was able do the modified version of “Chaturanga.” Weeeee! Babaw ba? Hahaha! Even if I was only able to do the modified version, the one with the knees on the floor supporting your upper body, I am really happy. I was able to dip low enough, and feel my triceps and biceps working. Nice one! : ) What an accomplishment, haha! Now I can’t get enough of it, hahaha! Awhile ago I was doing the “Vinyasa” breath flow movement, challenging my body to do “Chaturanga”. Haha! Addicted much? Haha! Can’t wait for my Yoga class tomorrow! : ) Now I can see the improvement in my body. I still have a long long long long way to go, but I am inspired to challenge my body more. I so love Tuesdays and Thursdays! : ) I can’t wait to turn my so called “hate” to “love” in doing my “Chaturangas.”
