weekend movie marathon…

This long weekend, all I did was watch my downloaded movies. After a whole day of Christmas shopping, it was so relaxing to finally sit back and watch a movie. I opened Toshiko and searched for my downloaded movies, what to watch? Hmmmm…. Tadaaa! Here are my selections for the weekend. As I blog these films please take note that my reviews are my opinion and I may mention some parts of the movie (*Spoiler Alert*). Game!

Paranormal Activity – 11/28/09 – This is a true story, or so they say (I doubt it). It’s about a couple who was haunted by a demon. The girl Kate was like a demon magnet, she was haunted by this being since she was 8. Her boyfriend Micah was a little doubtful about the haunting until he experienced it. The movie was somewhat Blair Witch Project meets The Exorcist. It gives me the creeps when I see random movements caught on camera while the couple is sleeping. Hearing a strange voice call your name in the middle of the night is not what I want to experience. And knowing that even if I move out of the house “it” will still follow me! Waaaaaaaaaaaaa! Well the movie ends up tragically, both Kate and Micah died in the house. Hard to believe this is a true story though, I read somewhere that there are several ending versions of this horrifying film. I am not surprised that I also found some information about the “actors” on the net. Watch this if you want a good scare, some parts maybe boring but as it was simply made, it’s closer to reality.

Milk – 11/29/09 – Hi! My name is Harvey Milk and I’m here to recruit you… I liked the movie. It’s a about the first openly gay man who was elected to public office in California. He put on such a brave fight for equal rights for the third sex in America. I was really moved by the way he relentlessly campaigned for equal rights for everyone and on how he helped everyone that needed him. One of my favorite scenes here in the movie was when he was trying to convince Cleve to register to vote, although he did not convinced him at first, he became his mentor. The other one was when Milk was having a meeting in his apartment then Scott drove away the people for him and Milk to have a nice dinner. Scott was so mad about what was happening with Milk, being so immerse in his political career that he sometimes forgets himself.  What a waste that Harvey Milk was just assassinated by a man who loathes him too much. He could have done so much more for his fellow members of the third sex. SAD… :( Sean Penn deserved the Best Actor Award for this, as well as Best Picture for Dustin Lance Black. Bravo guys!!! :)

500 Days of Summer – 11/30/09 – A friend of mine can so relate to this movie, haha! Majority of her friends including me says so, haha! Oh my where should I start without thinking of my friend??? Oh here, I love the actress Zooey Deschanel, love the way she looked in the movie, from her costumes, to her lines. One of the best lines in the movie was this (as quoted by my Marsy Nice) “SUMMER: I woke up one morning and I just knew. TOM: Knew what? SUMMER: What I was never sure of with you.” This really hit me. It’s like when you have one of the greatest love of your life then one day *poof* you realized that, “Nah! This is not gonna’ work out.” I also love how Rachel takes care of his brother Tom, how she breaks reality to him. Her advises were so good you would not expect that it would come from a kid like her. She is so beyond her years, unlike Tom who wallows in his depression every time he is reminded of Summer. This is not really a feel good romantic comedy, this is reality. No happy endings, no walking in the clouds feeling, no they live happily ever after. This is how real relationship works. Oh well, it’s just me and how I view the movie. Reality bites and you have to bite back to survive! :)

Now, I’m done with my long weekend marathon. But I know this won’t be the last. Expect more from me in this blog. Pardon some of my senseless views; remember it’s just my opinion. Till my next movie marathon, I have tons on my line up! :)

random thoughts: saturday mall day…

I declare today as mall day! Well for Jonard and me at least, today we need to finish our Christmas shopping. We went to total of 3 shopping malls, hah! From Rockwell, to SM Marikina, to Robinsons Metro East… Whew! this day is tiring! Glad we finished our shopping, now all I need is to wrap these gifts. Hmmmm when shall I start????

~*~

I dunno what got into me but I am so  obsessed now with rompers. They’re so versatile, hip and (depending on the style and fabric) comfy. Well my only restrictions are no tube top for me, no too short-shorts for me and no too skimpy outfit for me. On my trip to the mall a while ago, I found a perfect romper for me in ZARA. Weeee! I was about to buy it but found a little damage in the zipper, so with a heavy heart I let it go. :(    I’ll check the other branches tomorrow, hopefully they still have my size. :)

~*~

I planned to cook this weekend, we passed by the grocery to buy some of the ingredients that I need for my version of Shrimp Fra Diablo. I went to Rustan’s Grocery in Rockwell to look for Chili Flakes as I find this hardly available in the groceries here in our area. I asked the first guy I saw that wears Rustan’s uniform. Here is the gist of our conversation:

A: Boss, san po dito ung mga Chili Flakes nyo?

B: Anu po un ma’am flakes po ba?

A: Oho, san po ba nakalagay ung mga un dito?

B: Ah flakes pala, dito po yan.

He accompanied me to the aisle of the Flakes, uhmmm… Corn flakes! Wow! I thought he understood what I was looking for. Oh my, I wanted to laugh but I gained my composure back and just thanked him, ahihihihi! Well, I found what I was looking for and voila! Here is the finish product:

IMG_3710yum yum yum! :)

random thoughts: on tuesday muse day…

9:38AM – I just had a big mug of coffee and mini Pande Coco from Dao Bakery for breakfast, it was so yummy and filling. Brings me back to the days when we were kids, every afternoon we buy bread in Dao for our afternoon snacks. Spanish bread and Pande Coco were our favorites, Whew! I can live on with eating this Pande Coco everyday. :)

~.~

10:13AM – Why do I get this feeling that I do not belong anywhere? Hmmmm… is this just me or its really happening?  Maybe I’m no longer needed? Maybe I need to wake up from this deep slumber? Maybe I need to… Maybe I have to… Wait a minute! Where am I going?! I think I’m lost… :(

~.~

12:54NN – Done with lunch. My gulay it was like the extension of Lechon Festival. We had lechon paksiw and lechon kawali yesterday, and today our lunch was…. TADAAA! Lechon Paksiw (part2) and Lechon with Tofu. haha! I don’t think I will ever crave for lechon anytime soon. :P

~.~

2:48PM – Busy looking for a dentist. I found one actually, but the prices were so steep and they do not accept card payment. ERK! I have to look for cheaper alternative! Can anyone help me???

~.~

3:20PM – Update on my search for a dentist! Got one, booked tomorrow for cleaning and consultation. Its kinda’ weird, I called the same dental company but the price discrepancies were way too big. Got confused with the prices and everything, good thing they accept credit card on this one. Wish me luck guys! Thi is it! :)

~.~

5:04PM – I’m still undecided if I’ll go to the gym or not. It’s been 1 weeks since my last visit. I am in my Lazy Daisy mode. This damn headache is killing me for a week now. I need motivation! Now Naaaaa!!!

random thoughts: foot spa sunday

The spa lady is here!!! Weeee! So excited, finally having my feet pampered. :) I should do this more often. :) My feet deserves it! :) I’ll be watching Ugly Truth as the spa lady works on my footsies. This will be a good diversion for my ticklish feet, haha!

~*~

Yesterday I was in Indonesia (Nasi Goreng), a while ago I was in China. We had our dinner in Causway Libis. Those dimsum are HEAVEN! Love their siomai, spareribs with tausi and hakao. And the best part is, I never paid a cent, haha! Jon treated me as promised last week. Thanks Jon! Mwah! :*

~*~

Still having my New Moon hang over, haha! Edward has this effect on me that makes me smile just by thinking of the plot of the saga, haha! Lines from the story keeps on popping in my head, and gives me a giddy feeling. I love it! :) This is so crazy! hahaha! I think I’m in a daze. :) Breathe Anne! Whew! Back to reality. :)

~*~

Tomorrows Monday again, start of the week. Awwww! I hope I will have time tomorrow to go back to the gym. I missed 1 week, haha!  This is so not happening. I need to go back!!!

going indo…

I woke up late yesterday only to find out that no body cooked breakfast. Hungry and still a little groggy from sleep, I opened our stock cabinet looking for corned beef. Found nothing but cans and cans of sardines from relief goods that were given to us last September. I saw some thing that was in pack and pulled it out. TADAAAA! It was my pasalubog from Kuya Raul’s Indonesia trip. This is perfect, I have craved for Nasi Goreng for the past week. Oh how I miss my Indonesia Trip. :(

IMG_3705

I read the instructions at the back of the package and looked for the ingredients needed. I was lucky to find out that we have shrimp in the fridge. This is so meant to happen, haha! Cooked the package according to instructions, asked Mama Ti to cook scrambled eggs, and here is the finished product. Yum! Yum! Yum!

IMG_3704

It was like going back to Jamie’s home in Indonesia all over again. I miss that place! :( I miss her room, the entertainment room, the dining and kitchen area and I miss the pool, waaaaaaaaaa! I remembered we swam in the pool when the rain stopped. We were re-enacting Blue Crush hahaha! *Paddle! Paddle! Paddle* hahahahaha! Do you see how food reminds me of what I have done for the past? haha! I love eating and traveling. I hope some day I will return to Indonesia and feast on some of the food that were introduced to me in my past trip.  Wishful thinking! haha! Whew!

My New Moon Review (spoiler alert)

If there is only one thing I can say about the movie it would be this one: New Moon Movie is far better than the Twilight Movie! I loved it! No regrets in buying tickets in advance. Haha! The long wait for the movie was also really worth it! I want to see it again, haha! I don’t care if I’m ranting like a teenager, Go Team Edward! haha!

There were many parts that were tweaked to enhance what was in the book. These scenes like the dream catcher from Jacob, the visions instead of Edwards voice, the scene where in Felix was brawling Edward, and others. It was a good way of connecting scene after scene to create the picture. The flashbacks of Bella also helped many the viewers who did not read the book understand the story more. So no worries for those who have not read the book, but personally I think you should read the book because many scenes were edited to compress the movie to 2 and a half hours.

One of my favorite scenes was the part where Edward arrived in school on Bella’s birthday, he was so gorgeous, haha! He greeted her discreetly and Bella was a bit of annoyed to be reminded that she is indeed getting older. I just noticed that Edward has a new car, it’s still Volvo but not the “Edward car” Volvo. I miss the shiny Volvo, aaawww… Then Jacob appeared to wish Bella a happy birthday and gave her a birthday present, a dream catcher. As they went to class, Edward was teasing and asking Bella, why does Jacob get to give her present while he is not allowed. Then the Romeo and Juliet class scene came, well that did not work for me, it was far better in the book, where they watched the movie privately. But to be fair, Edward reciting the lines of Romeo was a hit, haha!

I expected the birthday scene to be a bit longer. Cullen family are still the same, Esme was warm, Emmett was funny, Jasper was distant and Rosalie was as usual snub. Alice was prettier in this movie, and Carlisle is still handsome.  I also noticed costumes and make-up were better for this second installment of the Twilight saga. They still look like vampires but they do not have the Geisha foundation effect look. Good job wardrobe and make-up! :)

Ok now we go to the wolves side… Love the scene where Jacob went to Bella’s room, the effects on how he climbed his way up to the window. Raaaawwwrr! haha! I also love the scene where Paul and Jacob were in a fight, before and when they transformed in front of Bella. Droll worthy bodies and tats are exposed, weeeee! A big plus points for the wolf pack, haha! As for the wolf transformation, their characters were adorable instead of scary, haha! Jacob looked like a fox, because of his color and construction of his face. Cute but fierce, nice combination by the way. After the scene was the part where they went to Emily to eat. Whoa! I was surprised by the size of those muffins, they were HUGE! Then Jacob and Paul came to the scene, its like the fight never happened.

There are still many favorite  scenes that I have in mind, but I am too tired to put it in words, haha! Hey give me a break, its past 1 AM and I am still blogging about my movie night. haha! All in all the movie was great for me, it exceeds my expectations. I expected it to be like the other literary works turned into a movie, just for the heck that they can say that the book was made into a movie. I hate that! Good work for the cast and crew of New Moon. :) Congratulations guys!  :) Keep up the good work. Till we see again in Eclipse. :)

I am officially “A Day Late”

Warning! This is some what a New Moon Post!

I went to Eastwood City yesterday evening with Mae to reserve seats for our New Moon movie night. I was a bit nervous because I was thinking that the reservation for advance seat sale for the weekend is already sold out. We arrived in Eastwood after 1 grueling hour of long line and traffic, it was about 8-ish or so.

I expected the worst when we entered the mall, (again) long ticket lines, irritable costumers, kids running like hell and others. Surprise! Surprise! The exact opposite of the scene that I was imagining, no lines, no customers, no irritable kids, etc. Just us and the people in the counters to help us. Wow! God really works in mysterious ways. *wink* *wink*

We asked the reservation officer for the available seating for the first day of showing. Well no surprise here, the only available seats were 3 in front row and other single seats in between of groups. We gave up on the first day of showing and decided to reserve for the second day instead. WEEEEEE! at least we got confirmed! haha!

Having said that we are watching New Moon on the second day I have thought of a song very fitting to this, haha! Crazy right? This song was introduced to me by Jamie. I so love this song! :) It’s not really directly connected to New Moon, but if you widen your imagination it can be. It’s just a song that reminds me that I am a day late for the premier showing of the movie. LOLZ!

A Day Late * Anberlin

so let me get this straight
say now you loved me all along?
what made you hesitate
to tell me with words what you really feel
i can see it in your eyes you mean all of what you say
i remember so long ago, see i felt that same way
now we both have separate lives and lovers (and lovers)
insignificantly enough we both have significant others

only time will tell
time will turn and tell

we are who we were when
could’ve been lovers but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when
who knew what we know now
could’ve been more but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when

but thoughts they change and times they rearrange i don’t know who you are anymore
loves come and go and this i know i’m not who you recall anymore
but i must confess you’re so much more then i remember
can’t help but entertain these thoughts
thoughts of us together

we are who we were when
could’ve been lovers but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when
who knew what we know now
could’ve been more but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when

my day late friend

so let me get this straight
all these years and you were no where to be found
and now you want me for your own
but you’re a day late and my love, she’s still renowned
we are who we were when
could’ve been lovers but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when
who knew what we know now
could’ve been more but at least you’re still my day late friend
we are who
we are who we were when

Gimik the Reunion

No! It’s not Juday, Rico, G, Deither, Mylene, Bojo, Jolina and Marvin’s reunion. I just borrowed the title, haha! It’s OUR reunion, my college batch mates and myself. We were only 3 last Tuesday from our original group of 5. So with over flowing water (lolz) and stories we reminisce our college and after college lives.

I filed for a vacation leave Tuesday afternoon to meet Diane. I was so excited to see her because its been six months since we last saw each other. We have a very solid communication through email, chat and this blog, we update each other constantly, and when I say constantly I mean on a daily basis, haha! Considering this, I am still excited to see her. :)  I was looking forward for this day,we have labeled it as our shopping day. Although I lack the finances, I enjoyed helping her choose great buys while I window shop.

It’s like Singapore trip all over again, we explored Glorietta, Greenbelt 3 and Greenbelt 5. We rummaged not only the usual stores that we fancy but even those stores we don’t. We enjoyed fitting and commenting on each other’s choices, we were both looking for something fashionable yet very wearable. We stayed at Starbucks GB to people watch, and to enjoy Frappes and shared Blueberry Cheesecake.
sbux

We met Tintin in Greenbelt 5 in time for dinner, we ate in Sentro. Food was great but the stories that we shared were jucier, haha! Took turns in taking pictures with the fountain in the background while the waitress drowned us with water refill, leaving no room for desert. Of course we never missed out to take our group picture.
dj-anne-tin

We said our goodbyes at the end of our dinner and held a cab for Tintin. Diane slept in our house as she always does when she came for a visit. We surfed the net and  chatted till dawn. If it wasn’t for my early meeting yesterday, I would have called in sick, haha! It was one hell of a night of stories, food and shopping. Lurve it! :) Hope we can do this again. :)

Pinoy ako! :)

It’s good to be Pinoy! :)

Today is one of the greatest day for every Pinoy in the planet. Two of our greatest and bravest fighters face their respective opponents in the ring, to give honor and to represent our country. Manny “Pacman” Paquiao won his bout against Miguel Cotto this morning, while Brandon  “The Truth” Vera was defeated in a close decision fight against Randy “The Natural” Couture. Both Pinoys gave us pride in representing our country, win or lose they gave their best in their respective fights.

I am so proud for Manny and Brandon! They represented our country very well. Manny as usual gave us pride in winning the 12 rounds of boxing against his opponent. However, Brandon was very classy in accepting his defeat, I know The Truth will be back and we will be waiting for it. I take pride of being Pinoy now more that ever because of these two fighters. Till your next fights guys! I will be supporting you all the way. :)

coffee anyone?

I can’t explain my coffee habits. Yes you got that right, I started drinking coffee again. I can’t stay away from it! Despite all the warning that I will suffer more from my hyper acidity, I succumbed to my old coffee habits. I have avoided carbonated drinks and liquor for the past months to help me ease my acidity, and I am proud to say that I am on the right track, but this is not the same case when we discuss about “my coffee”.

I don’t know why it’s too hard for me to give up coffee. I am not your typical caffeine junkie that drinks 4-5 cups a day, at most I drink 3 cups per day.  Coffee helps me relax and ironically sleep better. Before we use to have coffee breaks in the office every morning and afternoon, but when I started to feel that I am acidic, I refrained from brewing coffee to avoid temptation. From then on no more coffee breaks for me and my office mates. *sad*

Now back to my old self, still drinking coffee occasionally even if its bad for me. I still feel pain from my tummy now and then because of my stubbornness. In fact I just came from a coffee night out a while ago, and I feel a little uneasy in my stomach now. Maybe its a warning that I drank too much, haha! What can I do, too many stories to tell and my coffee was free! haha! *Thanks Dork! Next time I’ll treat you promise… :) * Damn this hyper-acidity!
