This long weekend, all I did was watch my downloaded movies. After a whole day of Christmas shopping, it was so relaxing to finally sit back and watch a movie. I opened Toshiko and searched for my downloaded movies, what to watch? Hmmmm…. Tadaaa! Here are my selections for the weekend. As I blog these films please take note that my reviews are my opinion and I may mention some parts of the movie (*Spoiler Alert*). Game!
Paranormal Activity – 11/28/09 – This is a true story, or so they say (I doubt it). It’s about a couple who was haunted by a demon. The girl Kate was like a demon magnet, she was haunted by this being since she was 8. Her boyfriend Micah was a little doubtful about the haunting until he experienced it. The movie was somewhat Blair Witch Project meets The Exorcist. It gives me the creeps when I see random movements caught on camera while the couple is sleeping. Hearing a strange voice call your name in the middle of the night is not what I want to experience. And knowing that even if I move out of the house “it” will still follow me! Waaaaaaaaaaaaa! Well the movie ends up tragically, both Kate and Micah died in the house. Hard to believe this is a true story though, I read somewhere that there are several ending versions of this horrifying film. I am not surprised that I also found some information about the “actors” on the net. Watch this if you want a good scare, some parts maybe boring but as it was simply made, it’s closer to reality.
Milk – 11/29/09 – Hi! My name is Harvey Milk and I’m here to recruit you… I liked the movie. It’s a about the first openly gay man who was elected to public office in California. He put on such a brave fight for equal rights for the third sex in America. I was really moved by the way he relentlessly campaigned for equal rights for everyone and on how he helped everyone that needed him. One of my favorite scenes here in the movie was when he was trying to convince Cleve to register to vote, although he did not convinced him at first, he became his mentor. The other one was when Milk was having a meeting in his apartment then Scott drove away the people for him and Milk to have a nice dinner. Scott was so mad about what was happening with Milk, being so immerse in his political career that he sometimes forgets himself. What a waste that Harvey Milk was just assassinated by a man who loathes him too much. He could have done so much more for his fellow members of the third sex. SAD… :( Sean Penn deserved the Best Actor Award for this, as well as Best Picture for Dustin Lance Black. Bravo guys!!!
500 Days of Summer – 11/30/09 – A friend of mine can so relate to this movie, haha! Majority of her friends including me says so, haha! Oh my where should I start without thinking of my friend??? Oh here, I love the actress Zooey Deschanel, love the way she looked in the movie, from her costumes, to her lines. One of the best lines in the movie was this (as quoted by my Marsy Nice) “SUMMER: I woke up one morning and I just knew. TOM: Knew what? SUMMER: What I was never sure of with you.” This really hit me. It’s like when you have one of the greatest love of your life then one day *poof* you realized that, “Nah! This is not gonna’ work out.” I also love how Rachel takes care of his brother Tom, how she breaks reality to him. Her advises were so good you would not expect that it would come from a kid like her. She is so beyond her years, unlike Tom who wallows in his depression every time he is reminded of Summer. This is not really a feel good romantic comedy, this is reality. No happy endings, no walking in the clouds feeling, no they live happily ever after. This is how real relationship works. Oh well, it’s just me and how I view the movie. Reality bites and you have to bite back to survive!
Now, I’m done with my long weekend marathon. But I know this won’t be the last. Expect more from me in this blog. Pardon some of my senseless views; remember it’s just my opinion. Till my next movie marathon, I have tons on my line up!
yum yum yum!
